Meet Kristin

Kristin Ramsey ATR-BC, LPC

Kristin Ramsey, LGBTQ+ affirming Art therapist and Counselor , Grove Therapy Collective, Northern Virginia

I believe therapy begins with safety, authenticity, and collaboration.

Within this space, the hope is that you can slow down, reflect, and begin making sense of your experiences in ways that feel meaningful and supportive.

My approach weaves together art therapy, mindfulness, and body-based awareness to support a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you. When words alone can’t fully capture what we’re feeling, creative and somatic practices can offer other ways to express, explore, and stay connected to what’s present in the moment.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia and Washington, DC, and a Registered and Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC). My work is grounded in a trauma-informed, person-centered perspective guided by curiosity and care.

This practice is LGBTQ+ affirming and inclusive of people across the gender spectrum. I hold a certificate in therapy for the transgender community and strive to create a space where people of all backgrounds feel grounded, respected, and supported in their process.

In addition to my clinical work, I provide clinical supervision toward licensure for LPC residents and art therapy credentialing, supporting emerging clinicians as they develop their own authentic style.

At its core, my work is about connection. Connection to yourself, to others, and to the world around you.

Approach to Therapy

Grounded Awareness. Creative Exploration. Genuine Growth.

  • Slowing down enough to notice what’s happening internally

  • Using art making, imagination, and flexibility to approach emotions from new angles.

  • Listening to the cues your body offers about stress, safety, and connection.

  • Shaping the work together rather than following a rigid formula.

This work centers on curiosity, presence, and the belief that meaningful change often begins with paying attention to what’s happening within and around us. Rather than focusing on fixing or correcting, therapy builds on the strengths you already carry while creating space for reflection and discovery.

A few guiding principles shape the work:

These principles come together through a blend of art therapy, talk therapy, and body-based awareness so the work can adapt to what feels most supportive for you.
